OPERATIONAL UPDATE
Since 2018, and throughout Covid, right-wing attacks on humanitarians, the fire that burnt down Moria camp, the construction of the new camp, pushbacks and criminalization, Fenix has provided uninterrupted, empowering and dignified services to people seeking refuge in Greece.
During this time, we have reached 5000+ vulnerable clients with our holistic legal aid program, carried out 500+ advocacy and strategic efforts at the national and international level -including EU Commission, EU Parliament, Greek Government and UN- and trained 1000+ humanitarian workers, authorities and other stakeholders.
It is of public knowledge that the civil space in Greece is shrinking and that the Greek refugee crisis has become increasingly politicized, criminalized and invisible. For this reason, Fenix is currently conducting an assessment of its structure, programs and activities to ensure the internal efficiency and sustainability to continue to operate under this complex and hostile context. Our plan will be shared in September 2023.
Thank you for your continuous support of our work, vision and mission!
